Sometimes at night I struggle to sleep
Thoughts buzz in my head like swarming bees;
They’re busy making sense of things I’ve done in the day
Piecing together images for my swirling thoughts to create.

It can be frustrating when I’m kept from sleep
My body feels weary while my thoughts still leap;
Sometimes breathing slowly helps me to drift off
But when that doesn’t work I lie awake, checking the clock.

After what seems like hours my eyelids start to feel heavy
My thoughts slow down & breathing comes naturally.
And without resistance I surrender to the call
Then into sleep’s sweet embrace I willingly fall.
